We, Pim and Marjon, are the proud owners of ‘Chez Khadija’ in Fez. About 10 years ago, we made a trip together to Marrakech, another royal city in Morocco. We thought it was beautiful but also overwhelming. When we arrived at the airport, we told that to someone. “Then you should actually go to Fez”. And off we went. We were captivated. The atmosphere, the culture, the conviviality, and the sense of community. Wanting to do something for others, without wanting anything in return. That unconditional inspiration inspires us tremendously and we hope that this is an inspiration to everyone. We feel at home in Fez, and we made some friends for life along the way.

It didn’t stop with just one visit. Twice a year we left well-organized Netherlands behind us for the mysterious and authentic Fez. Often our 5 children went with us. They grew up with Fez. And because it felt so good, because we got to know so many people and were so enchanted by beautiful riads, we thought about finding something for ourselves.

We saw a small advertisement on eBay of a Dutchman who had his ‘dar’ for sale.

After visiting that house, we knew it straight away: this is going to be our house! The house exudes a centuries-old, nostalgic, and romantic atmosphere.

We bought the house in April 2019 and, with the help of local craftsmen and friends, we transformed it back into a little palace as in ‘a thousand and one nights’. The name of our house comes from an old staff member. Khadija used to work in the house. We decided to keep this name.

In February 2020, the renovation was finished. Our house is too beautiful to be just enjoyed by ourselves. That’s why we rent out our house, allowing more people to enjoy it as much as we do.
